Error connecting to License Server

When I launch my Terminal Services Licensing MMC, and it goes about searching

for my license server, I get the following error:

"No Terminal Server License server is availalbe in the current domain or

workgroup. To connect to another license server, click Action, click Connect,

and then type the server name."

When I type the name in, it finds it just fine and the MMC opens and I can

view my issued licenses, etc. I'm not sure why this started happening.

It was opening fine before and I have not made any changes to this server.

I've tried launching the MMC on the actual terminal licensing server, as

well as from my XP workstation. Both cause the same message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sara

Re: Error connecting to License Server

Order in which TS License Server Manager discovers License Server is,

- Searches all License Servers published in Catalog Server

- Checks if Domain Controller is License Server

- Self discover

There can be many reasons why License Server is not getting discovered now;

Even when you did not make any changes in server

- Your License Server might have been published in Catalog Server and

now that entry is removed.

- You are trying to run License Server Manager on the box which is not

in same domain as License Server Machine

Re: Error connecting to License Server

Well, my license server is also a domain controller (recently newly implemented).

I originally had my license server on another DC, which after the install

of this new one, was demoted and removed from the domain entirely. Even

after that, I was able to open my Terminal Services Licensing MMC and my

server would come right up. This new DC is also a Catalog server. I only

have 1 domain, and all servers are part of that domain. If I didn't mention

it, I'm running Windows 2003 R2 on this new server.

Re: Error connecting to License Server

Sounds like the new LS wasn't properly published in AD. Maybe you

installed it under an account which didn't belong to Enterprise

Administrators? Check if this helps:
