szohaib Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Hello guys Just a quick question I have an intel dh55hc motherboard http://www.plonter.co.il/graphics/product_images/full/DH55HC.jpg i have got 2 hard disks with me. 1st one is SATA based 1TB WD and the second one is Maxtor 300GB IDE I recently bought a IDE TO SATA adaptor. Now the tricky part I dont know how to set the jumpers Can you kindly tell me where should I set the jumpers in order for me to have both the hard disks up and running. My windows boots from the 1TB WD connected via sata. Kindly reply as I have been struggling all day with it Should I be using jumpers on both the hard disks for them to function together or what? No idea. The model numbers are Maxtor 6L300R0 http://www.superwarehouse.com/Maxtor...00R0/ps/623088 and the one connected via SATA is http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=763 Kindly help guys. Really frustrated now Regards Zohaib Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hello and welcome. As your already booting from the 1TB then that is fine. Your Maxtor should have a sticker on it showing how to set slave drive. Jumper settings for Seagate and Maxtor ATA hard drives - HD Doctor Blog Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Dalo Harkin Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 All SATA drives are MASTER, IDE can be set to either Master (which would contain an OS, if you were just using the one drive) or if you were using more than one IDE you would have one as Master that contains the OS and the secondary drive containing DATA etc... You can run your IDE as Master or Slave as it doesnt/wont be containing an OS, just make sure that it still boots from the SATA drive and not the IDE The setting on the back of the IDE drive must match its position on the IDE ribbon cable :) Quote Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)Asus P5K premium black pearl4GB OCZ Reaper 8500260GTX Join Free PC Help - Register here Donations are welcome - here PC Build We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. After all, no one knows everything and you may have the answer that someone needs.
