different option for setting TS permission?

1. using ADUC on a server (domain controller or standalone server), go to

user object properties, under Terminal Service Profile, there is a option as

"Deny this user permissions to log on to any Terminal Server". The ADUC

version is 5.2.3790.1830

2. using ADUC on a XP (installed as admin package for XP) the option change

to "allow logon to terminal server". The version of ADUC is 5.2.3790.0.

Why they are different? Is there a way to make it the same, especially on

XP? a new adminpak?

I know the dial-in Tab on xp has to be enabled through some special process.

But just realized the difference with the TS option. Any idea why it's like

that (other than it's from adminpak) and possible fixt?

Thanks.

Hello Chris,

Do you use the same adminpak? Which OS/SP is the server?

Re: different option for setting TS permission?

the server is windows 2003 server SP2. I didn't install adminpak on any

server, just used what came with it. On my XP SP2 I use the adminpak which I

have using for long time since Windows 2003 released. Is there a newer

adminpak for xp?

Re: different option for setting TS permission?

Hello Chris,

The ADUC version is 5.2.3790.3959 is from SP2, so on the server open RUN

and type adminpak.msi, press Enter aned it should upgrade to the newer version.

Then copy the adminpak.msi from c:\windows\system32 to the XP machine and

install it also again. So you can be sure to have both new versions running.

Best regards
