morning when i come to work i find that my server has been restarted This is

happenning often. How will I know why the server was restarted and if it was

automatically restarted or because of power failure or anyother reason?

Check the Event Viewer.

If you suspect a power failure, connect some ordinary PC to the same

power outlet. If its "uptime" in the morning is the same that the server's

"uptime" then you're obviously dealing with a power failure.

I would first suspect that it is a hardware problem. Check the event

viewer and see if the "previous shutdown was unanticipated".... If that

is what you see, check for any pattern in the reboots.

I'd also log onto the server and start a shutdown. go to the point where

you can choose to shut down or restart. Does it say "restart"?

Pegasus is right about how to deduce a power failure. BTW, you *DO* have

it on a UPC, right? If not get one ASAP!!
