BeeCeeBee Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 ive looked at the server settings, but cant seem to work out why they are not working. What you need to do is make certain that the outgoing mail settings are consistent with the settings that should be given you be esch account separately on their sites. If you are using POP3 then you are looking for the those settings. You can use the same outgoing setting for all your mail but then they will only "appear" to come from the various accounts, Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." BunniLeigh Posted October 22, 2010 Author Posted October 22, 2010 thank you beeceebee, this is why i feel so silly... i have read and re-read the virgin site re.. email, and still cannot get it right... yes i know i can use webmail, but would like them all in one place :( Quote
Synapse Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 You can use the same outgoing setting for all your mail but then they will only "appear" to come from the various accounts, Not in the UK I'm afraid. Lots of UK ISP's block use of any outgoing mailservers that are not their own - spam prevention! You could try sending all your mail through your ISP outgoing server, that does work quite often, though I still have issues with some Yahoo mail and my ISP. Quote
BeeCeeBee Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I did not know that but still you should be able to find outgoing mail settings on each of the sites where you have a mail account. Quote "Familiarity breeds contempt - and children." Mark Twain
Synapse Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Yeah, its a real pain if you have multiple accounts. Say you have a BT Broadband connection and you still use an old Virginmedia email, incoming mail is great, but to send your Virginmedia email out, you would have to use the BT SMTP server. Quote
RandyL Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Another thing to check with outgoing and incoming mail is SSL This server requires a secure connection. Some isp's use it and some don't so you have to check their settings. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else.
