Upgrading graphics card.

Hello, I have a HD 4890 in my Pc and just got enough cash to upgrade to a 5870. My question is that is worth it to upgrade now or should I wait a while to let the price come down?

Well I usually use it to play games. I just recently got myself STALKER and Borderlands GOTY and they all run ok. So I was wondering if the upgrade is worth it?

I wouldnt at the moment as ATI are due to launch a new range of cards to rival the 400 range of Nvidia............

If you were looking to upgrade I would wait at least a month, but for the games that you say you play there is no need to upgrade what you have

I do know about the new 6xxx series ATI is pushing out but I don't think that will be in by budget (£ 250) for the high end cards.

What size monitor do you have/ what res do you game at?

Wanted to get the 5870 as it is supposed to be twice as fast and would keep me covered for future games as well.

For that resolution even a very basic card would play at high settings.

While you wont be able to set AA and AF to max, it should cope with at least x8 on each

For what res you play at I wouldnt buy anything but the XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB which can be bought in the UK for about £120

 

Its a double slot cooler so will take up one/maybe both of your PCI slots

Ok then 5770 it is. Also could you just tell me if a 5870 would fit in the motherboard above because I think that the ports at the end would block it?
