Current System Dell Dimension E520 Viiv Core 2 Duo Processor 2Gb DDR2 RAM ATi Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB Windows XP Upgrades Intel Q8400 Core 2 Quad Processor +2Gb RAM 800mhz (ordered from Dell) Sapphire HD5770 1Gb Can anyone please advise if it will be possible to fit all this in and get it working? and if I will need a new power supplier and which one (current is 305w I think and think I may need 400w+)? Any advice at all will be a great help for a new builder, I have not tried this before! Many thanks Quote
Jelly Bean Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hello and welcome. Firstly what make and model is the mainboard please? I am reading the Technical Specs and it says you can have upto: Up to 4GB23 Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (533MHz) So no you cannot have the 800MHz RAM.Plus there is no need to order RAM from Dell you could purchase it elsewere cheaper. I also would look more at 500 watt PSU. Please read: Dell Dimension E520 Product Details | Dell Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
CowboyBuilder Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Thank you for the reply Jelly Bean, on further advise I have decided to get a new pre-built gaming machine, as mine is just not worth patching up. Cheers Quote
