Hi

I have a problem loggin in on a SBS 2003 system. My workstation is XP-Pro.

The system is using roaming profiles. The user home directory (H:) is on a

share (\\servername\username$\). When I log in the "My Documents" folder

starts to duplicate itself into itself (foldar plu contents). The structure

of the folder looks like: H:\My Documents\My Documents\My Documents\My

Documents\My Documents\. It is doing so while showing "applying your

personal settings" and it continues doing so until I interrupt it (or

diskspace on the server is exausted I guess :-( ).

Has someone seen this before or (even better!) solved it?

I have seen this happen with junction points. They look like so from

a Command Prompt:

C:\>dir

Volume in drive C is CH-SYSTEM

Volume Serial Number is BFCE-EC74

Directory of C:\

Mon 24/03/2008 00:39 <DIR> Documents and Settings

Wed 07/05/2008 10:57 <JUNCTION> fnl

Thu 01/05/2008 21:23 <DIR> MYOB105

Tue 06/05/2008 23:40 <DIR> Program Files

Tue 06/05/2008 23:43 964 RDir.txt

Wed 07/05/2008 07:56 <DIR> WINDOWS

Unlinking them with linkd.exe should fix the problem.

Thanks for the tip. I checked, but unfortunately I did not have any

junctions in my home dir.

Other Ideas?

Re: Login problem SBS 2003

I'm not aware of any other causes that might be behind your

problem but I wonder if your search for junctions was sufficiently

thorough. If this was my problem then I would run this command

from the Command Prompt:

dir /s /ad "d:\UserData" > c:\dir.txt

Now search dir.txt for the word "junction".

Your last resort would be a reformat of the volume that carries

the problem folder.
