Hi,

I'm getting ready to setup TS with 5 licenses, my question is I need each

profile or user that is going to log in have access to Office 2007, do I

need an individual Office license for each profile that I create or can they

all use Office at the same time with one license?

Thanks Craig

Re: License Issue

Office is licensed per *device* so you need an Office license for

every client which the users connect from and run Office on the TS.

Did you buy Office through a Volume Licensing Program? That's a

requirement for Office 2007 on TS. Documented here:

Re: License Issue

Thanks Vera,

I haven't purchased anything yet, so to confirm, I need a license on the

computer as well as the TS session/profile/user account, whatever you want

to call it I need it for both.

Thanks again Craig

Hey Vera again,

I read the document thankyou very much, not quite clear yet, if I purchase

the Office Volume License for the TS can I install

a copy of it locally on the desktop as well. I don't think so but not quite

sure.

Thanks Craig

Re: License Issue

Yes, you can.

You need an Office license for every desktop which is used to run

Office (not profile or user account, Office is licensed per

desktop). Such a license gives the right to run Office either

locally or inside a TS session.

Let's take an example:

Assume you have 1 TS, 10 client desktops and 10 users and that

Office will only be used on 7 desktops.

You have to buy 7 Office licenses, which gives you the right to

install Office on 7 desktops locally AND on the Terminal Server.

Office may then be run by ALL users, but only on those 7 desktops,

either the locally installed version, or inside a rdp session to

the TS.

The other 3 desktops may NOT run Office in a TS session, because

there is no license for them.
