Windows 2003 server - how to apply hotfix

Recommended Posts

Automatic updates were made to my 2003 Standard server last night which now

has the server in a regular bsod, reboot cycle. I stopped the reboot,

checked the bsod and, sure enough, there is a kb article and a hofix. I

downloaded the hotfix and burned to a cd.

My question is how do you install the hotfix onto the server? I can boot up

in recovery console and get to a command prompt. Then what?

Hello here4real,

Did you try Last known good configuration?

Yep. No good. Tried every option of Safe Mode. The only thing that worked

was Disabling restart on system failure so I could see the bsod. The problem

is with storport.sys. There is a kb article on it as a known problem with a

hotfix. Now, I just need to find out how to apply the hotfix!
