As a personal project I intend to build myself a reasonable spec (can't afford top spec) gaming machine. Below I am listing the components that I am thinking of installing, and the price I can get the parts at. I would be interested in your responses regarding the suitability of these components and whether you think alternatives might be better. Obviously I am being cost concious so if there are any parts that might be considered OTT, or conversely, any that could be bettered (without spending a fortune) then please say. I'm trying to stick within a budget of £900.00. ;)

I was intending to fit two packs of the above making 8Gb total, although I have been told that the CPU I was considering might not handle 8Gb, and that it may be restricted to 1066MHz, so I really need advice on the suitability of this memory.

Forgot to mention (and I can't find an edit button) that I am not into overclocking so everything will be running on standard settings. I have gone for the water cooler as I live in Spain, and my current machine is working overtime in the summer trying to keep cool.

My current machine main spec is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

2048MB RAM

Radeon X1650 Series 512mb

So will I see a significant difference with the proposed setup above ?

If I can replay Crysis on max settings on that 1920 x 1080 monitor I will be well chuffed.
