Acer Aspire M1641 - Vista

Hi,

 

I have a problem with the above machine. When I turn the power on there are no beeps, no hard drive lights and nothing on the the screen. In short it won't boot up. I have had the panel off and checked all the connections which all seem pushed in fine and in holding the hard drive it does seem to spin. Any ideas what could be wrong??

It sounds like the PSU may be faulty. A power light indicates that there is power going into the PSU but that does not mean that it is functioning properly.

 

There really is no need to double post and your other one in the OS forum should be deleted.

Hey thanks, sorry about the double post I'm a newbee and posted in the wrong section. I have tried to delete the one on the os section but can't see how to do it.

 

With regards your reply does this imply a voltage drop?

It could imply over voltage just as much as a drop. PSU's supply all sorts of voltages to the mainboard and when they begin to fail you really don't know what is going to go where.

 

Either swap it, or take your old one to a PC repair shop, they should have a tester that will tell you in 30s if it is good or not.
