I was checking the event log to determine what time my system was turned on.

According to the event log, betwen may-nov my system was turned on at weird times:

July 12 (Mon) @ 06:28

July 15 (thurs) @ 06:57

Aug 31 (thurs) @ 06:59

Sep 16 (thurs) @ 06:25

Sep 30 (thurs) @ 06:38

Oct 11 (mon) @ 06:41

all the other dates/times seem accurate, but the ones above seem weird. The computer is not left on overnight, and nobody is even awake at 6-7am lol.

Is the event viewer wrong? How can my system be on if no-one turns it on?

Or has someone been sneaking on? lol

Event Viewers don't lie....unless your time and date were set incorrectly on your PC.

Also, can you confirm through other events that the system was actually started, and not just brought out of standby by a LAN event or similar.

Hi, as Synapse said, it depends on the type of shutdown you do, if just sending to sleep mode, the sytem will start up again and record events for all sorts of reasons but the usual one is the wake on LAN.

Ideally the shutdown should be a full one, OK it means waiting for the boot up when re-started, but is safer, and actually does the system good. Plus of course you can then turn off the power till you need it again, saving on your electric bill.

Nev.
