Guest jeeva Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hello, I installed Terminal server in Device mode at initial time, and for users license are issued in Device CAL Temporarily .Now i change the licensing from device mode to user mode and Install the user CAL license. but it show issued type as " Not applicable".
Guest Frane Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" I will assume that you're talking about 2003 server. If server is configured and activated in per user mode you will not able to track used TS CAL. This is by design, per user licensing is not integrated fully in TS 2003. Per user mode is fully integrated in Windows 2008. And you will need to track you CALs manually. -- ____________________________________ Frane Borozan Terminal Services and Citrix Presentation Server user logging http://www.terminalserviceslog.com

Guest Frane Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" If your server is in per user mode this is normal. This is because per user licesning is not implemented fully in win 2003. -- ____________________________________ Frane Borozan Terminal Services and Citrix Presentation Server user logging http://www.terminalserviceslog.com
Guest jeeva Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" The terminal server user cal is already installed in the server. How to re-install the User CAl again. sent me the procedure to solve this issue. Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" You don't *have* an issue, jeeva! In Windows 2003, your Per User licenses are listed as "Not Applicable" (N/A) in the Licensing Manager. That's because Per User licenses are unmanaged in Server 2003, as documented in KB article 822134, and won't be issued at all. Your clients will be able to connect without a problem. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822134 _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net *----------- Please reply in newsgroup -------------* "jeeva" <jeeva@quadrasystems.net> wrote on 12 maj 2008: > The terminal server user cal is already installed in the > server. How to re-install the User CAl again. sent me the > procedure to solve this issue. > "Frane" <frane.borozan@gmail.remove com> wrote in message > news:xksdsuwqsavr.v82fs2mo710l$.dlg@40tude.net... >> If your server is in per user mode this is normal. >> This is because per user licesning is not implemented fully in >> win 2003.

Guest David N. Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" Fran, I understand that 2003 does not manage the user CALS however when I go into the terminal server manager and select the connections, if I then look under information for these connections I am showing under client license: nothing. Again I userstand that server 2003 does not manage these licesne however how do I ensure that each "user" is licensed? Thanks David "Vera Noest [MVP]" wrote: > You don't *have* an issue, jeeva! > In Windows 2003, your Per User licenses are listed as "Not > Applicable" (N/A) in the Licensing Manager. Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Re: Terminal User CAL Type shows "Not Applicable" David, there is no native way to do this, since no license is ever issued. You have to keep track of the number of connecting users by hand to ensure that you are within the EULA. One way to do that is to make sure that you never have more members in the Remote Desktop Users group than you have Per User TS CALs. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net *----------- Please reply in newsgroup -------------* =?Utf-8?B?RGF2aWQgTi4=?= <David N.@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 31 jul 2008: > Fran, > > I understand that 2003 does not manage the user CALS however > when I go into the terminal server manager and select the > connections, if I then look under information for these > connections I am showing under client license: nothing.
