Missing Icons in Control Panel

OK, I assume my problem has happened to someone else and already answered in

the posts, but I haven't found it so here goes,

I think this started with the SP3 upgrade, which I have reversed (no shows

XP, sp2).

Half of my program icons for the control panel (sounds, mouse, display,

printers) are in classic view the other half are in the category view. Real

pain when trying to install or repair programs and hardware as one is in one

view the other in the other view.

Can someone PLEASE help me get all of these back on both views.

I have tried another system restore, but keep getting the message that my

computer cannot be restored and nothing has been changed. (This is after

restoring to a time PRIOR to SP3)

Thanks, as I am going nuts trying to resolve this issue.
