gingerwilliam Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hi People I have a Packard Bell Easynote R1938. I friend gave it to me as she said it was dead. She said I could salvage what I need and then take it to tip. I'm thinking - I can fix this! She said the power cable went pop. Using a new power cable - there is no power to laptop. The little hole in the laptop where the cable plugs in - am I getting too techincal? - is slightly discoloured round the edge - so clearly some damage has been done. I'm quite handy and have had the back off various PCs and fixed ones that have been labeled as dead. I can get old parts out and fix new ones - I just don't know what these parts are called! I'm thinking I can just fix a new bit in there where the cable plugs in and all will be well. I've done various searches but can't find what I'm looking for. I'm also aware that when adaptor went pop - it may have fried some innards. I'm assuming this will be clear when I get the back off. Screws are really tight! Can anyone help? Many thanks for reading this. Quote
DSTM Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hi gingerwilliam.Welcome to FPCH.:) The part you need to replace is called a PowerJack. Not expensive. Quote Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
