Hi,

My daughter's Toshiba Satellite Pro L300, which she's had just over 12 months has today switched itself off. The fan doesn't seem to be working.

Do you think there's any chance for it if I take it to the local computer place?

She seems to think that it might just want cleaning as it spends most of it's time in her bedroom.

Would appreciate suggestions. :)

Hi Mokles. This is a very common problem with laptops, and there is a good chance it could be easily fixed, if you clean the heat sink. Overtime the heat sink gets clogged with lint and dust. It ruins normal air flow inside the heat sink and the heat stops dissipating. As a result the CPU overheats and the laptop shuts down.Probably choked up with dust, fan as well.

If you can't do this, then a Computer Shop is the best bet.

Confidence, is the feeling I get, moments before I stuff something up.
