Guest Kenneth Warren Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 RE: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Hi I just upgraded to Vista about 2 weeks ago and I am having several problems with it. (1) With UAC on I can't open Itunes. If I turn off UAC then I can open Itunes with no problem and use my ipod with it. (2) When viewing videos on youtube or msn I can't hear the audio with UAC on but when I turn it off I can hear the audio just fine. I am sure there are other problems that I have not found yet. So my question is; should I reinstall Vista on my computer and do a hard install? When I upgraded to vista I ran the HP Upgrade Assistant and then installed Windows Vista Home Premium Express Upgrade. I am not sure I can do a hard install with this upgrade but I would try if I could. What do you think? Is it possible to fix the problems I have without doing a reinstall or should I reinstall Vista? tiger8384
Guest Mike M Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Kenneth, You would probably get far more useful help and advice by posting to a newsgroup supporting those running Vista rather than one such as this which supports those still running the legacy operating system "Windows Millennium" (Win Me). -- Mike Maltby mike.maltby@gmail.com Kenneth Warren <tiger8384@roadrunner> wrote: > Hi > I just upgraded to Vista about 2 weeks ago and I am having several > problems with it. Maybe it's "time out"??? <H>. I've link on the new link it brings up question or comment and neither links bring up a window... reply works I am wondering about an error message I'm getting?? "Your current security settings prohibit running activeX controls on this page" nothing works at all, if I click on anything on the desktop, this is the message I get. for instance my computor, I double click it, the window opens with nothing in the window and thes error appears. What do ya think webster?? Am I missing files?? the last time it worked I ran a spyware software Xspy and it found a high risk something and when I clicked to remove I then needed to reboot at Xspy request. Comutor seem to reboot fine, but like I said above thats it... not even start in the lower left corner responds
Guest Heather Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems First of all, Clay.....ignore Harry cuz he knows d*ck all about fixing his or any other computer. Now.....you say this is a WinME question about Active X. Right? Or are you dual booting with Vista and it is interfering?? You will have to be a lot more clear about your problem if you want answers. If it is Vista that is giving you fits, then go to a Vista help group. If it is WinME, then explain yourself better. What are you using for a browser, for instance?? IE or Firefox or another one. That is where you set the Active X allowances. As I don't use IE7 more than once a week, I will leave this to the MS MVP's. I use Firefox myself. And wait until morning when the UK guys are on here. It is almost 5 am there at the moment. They will fix you up.......Heather And Harry.....don't mess around trying to be a smart ass or thinking you can fix someone's problem. You can't!! You have messed your own computer up more times than any of us care to remember. And have given bad advice to newbies on here. SMACK!! I haven't done anything to mess around at this point and don't intend to do so. When I finally got my own computer to work the way it does now, it was done totally on my own, including hardware and software. You definitely need to learn to mind your own business. <H>. > > And Harry.....don't mess around trying to be a smart ass or thinking you > can fix someone's problem. You can't!! Guest webster72n Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Re: Just upgraded to vista and have several problems Clay, You should try and start a new thread. If you can enter a reply, you ought to be able to start and send your own message. The answer to your question will be simple as it seems. Harry.
