Guest PSRumbagh Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 I have an old desktop PC (Pentium II, 300 MHz, circa 1997) running Win98 Second Edition with a Diamond Viper V550 video card. When I try to install MicroSoft "Bookshelf 94" I immediately get an error message that Bookshelf 94 needs VGA or better and the installation stops with no apparent work around. The Viper V550 is presently set to 800 x 600 pixels, 32 bit color. Would "lowering" the settings to VGA values help? How to proceed with the Bookshelf 94 installation? Some very old apps check for 256 colors. When they were written, 32bit color was unheard of...so yes you may actually want to* lower* the colors or look for a newer version of that application -- Posted via http://computerhelpforums.net Forum to USENET Gateway
