cypher000 Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Hi there. I am running a Dell Optiplex GX260 pre-installed with Win XP. Everything has been fine untill the other day. Now when I connect into IE I never know what to expect. Sometimes it will 'Whoosh' start straight into the web and I am so happy. I can do anything and go anywhere. The next day I connect into IE and nothing happens, or if it does then it so ,so slow, very slow. Too slow to get me into any website. On and off. One day it is good, the next it is bad. The same thing happens with my E-Mails via Karoo (I live in Hull). I click on Outlook Express and maybe it will come in like a spring tide. Whoosh! Then it is great I can download my mail and send mail at will. But the next day I can click on OE and nothing happens. If at all it is slow, slow, very slow. Too slow to get any mail into my in-box.Never two days the same. Right then. Karoo have checked it out and there is nothing wrong with their set up. So it must be something wrong with my software or something. But what? My Registry is clean. My Hard Drives are defragged and not overloaded, in fact far from it. I run AVG every day and I do not have a virus on my system. So why am I getting all these strange happenings? Can anyone help me out here? I hope so. Thank you for all and any replies. Regards Walt. RandyL Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 It could be any number of things. Possibly the hard drive. Run a test on it. It could also be malware. I wouldn't trust AVG to find anything though. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. Plastic Nev Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 One thing I think I can pick out of this is the statement "My registry is clean" Have you used a registry cleaner of any type? If so that could be the source of the problem, we never ever recommend the use of registry cleaners as they can cause more damage than they can ever put right. Let us know if you have used a registry cleaner and which one. Also have you used any other antivirus or general antimalware programs as well as AVG? if so also let us know please and which ones you have used. That will help us to diagnose things further. Nev.
