"System Restore" VS "Scanreg /Restore"

Hi,

Not long ago, I purchased a WinXP home edition laptop from Dell.

In the past, when my Windows 98se computer didn't act "normal",

I usually "fixed" the problem with this command in real Dos mode,

"SCANREG /RESTORE", and I would select a previous date registry.

What is the difference between Windows XP's "System Restore"

and Windows 98's "SCANREG /RESTORE"?

Thanks in advance, Brad

Before you type your password, credit card number, etc.,

be sure there is no active keystroke logger (spyware) in your PC.

Re: "System Restore" VS "Scanreg /Restore"

You can research this on Google (i.e., read about System Restore), but the

short answer is, System Restore is considerably more encompassing, and backs

up more than just the registry. Something more analogous to "scanreg

/restore" is ERUNT (also on Google), which only backups the registry.
