speeding up NetBIOS name registration?

Say I have two computers - computerA and computerB (those are their

NetBIOS names). If I turn computerA on and try to ping computerA from

computerB immediately, it won't work. If I do it 5-10 minutes after

I've turned it on, however, it does. This suggests that it takes a

bit of time for computerA's name to be registered with computerB. Is

there any way to speed this up?

 

I could, I think, modify the LMHOSTS file, but the computer on which

I'd be doing this uses DHCP. There's no guarantee it'll have the same

IP address one day that it'll have the next day.
