Guest outlook novice Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I have a remote Server 2003 R2 x64 SP2, with exchange 2007 installed. I back this up with Backup Exec 11d. I find that i have to re-register/reboot this server everyday because the writers seen when using the vssadmin list writers command show that all are waiting for completion. If i dont re-register and reboot, backups fail. On occasions, they may recover but the exchange writer will display a retryable error which again means i have to re-boot. Is there any way to fix this?
Guest b Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 RE: Vss writer Issue I'm having the same issue except the writer status is okay. I found an old kb article but I'm not sure if it applies any more because the pre-req is SP1. I have a support ticket into symantec. Did you have any sucess with this? Guest outlook novice Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 RE: Vss writer Issue are you referring the kb article which discuss com errors seen via event viewer? Unfortuantely i am still encountering the same issue and have to reboot everyday to ensure backups dont fail. There has to be another way of forcing these writers to reset without having to restart the server surely or at least be a fix?
