Cannot install Admin Pak on Windows 2003 Server

I just setup and deployed a Windows 2003 R2 SP2. When I try to run

adminpak.msi it says tells me that it can only be installed on Windows

XP......and Windows Server 2003. This is a Windows Server 2003. What needs

to be done to allow the installation on this server?

It the installation pack is from Microsoft and is on a share drive if I

understand your question correctly. It is the same adminpak.msi I used to

install on my XP SP2 workstation.

Thanks,

-David

Re: Cannot install Admin Pak on Windows 2003 Server

Hello David,

You have to use the version from SP2, that by default is located under C:\windows\system32.

In the run line on the server type adminpak.msi and just press enter. That

one should be the right/actual installable version for the server. Also for

the client copy it from \\servername\windows\system32

Best regards

Re: Cannot install Admin Pak on Windows 2003 Server

Hi David,

WinServer 2003 and WinServer 2003 R2 are diff, and depending on the version

of adminpak.msi, it might not install.

Please download the latest adminpak.msi from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=86B71A4F-4122-44AF-BE79-3F101E533D95&displaylang=en

It should install now.
