remote printers inaccessible after xp sp3 from windows update - id

Installed SP3 from windows update. Applications cannot print. Opened

"Printers and Faxes". Dialog tries to connect to remote printers, then shows

status as "unable to connect". Request properties for a printer and you are

notified that the printer spooler is not running. But that service is on

automatic and is already started. (Stopping and restarting it make no

difference.)

 

Pretty vanilla Dell system. Windows Live Onecare and Windows Home Server.

Disregard this post. The problem has mysteriously disappeared overnight.

(It is likely that the remote PC was rebooted.)
