My laptop has no audio, except for a beeping sound it emits when I start up

the OS.

I read on another forum and it said to delete the WMM.... driver and reboot.

I deleted on the "Sounds and Audio Devices">Hardward in Control Panel, coz

when I highlighted "Device Status" it says "not working properly". Then I

rebooted. Nothing happened, still no audio.

Where can I download tis file ? It's probably a windows xp audio driver coz

i hv got no specific audio card in my quite basic laptop. I can't remember

the whole name already.

cheers

Andrew

You need to re-install it from the CD that came with your laptop.

Re: no audio

hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I can't remember what is the name of the audio driver that was missing.

It started with wmm ..... do u know ?

For more info, I've tried this:

Start>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control

Error Message:

"There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go

to Control

Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware.

This program will now close."

cheers

still no audio

still no audio

I've worked on it over the weekend. I managed to install a PCI driver which

turned out to be the modem driver. I've tried making that sound but the

messagebox says

"There is no audio output device" ?

I discovered that I had to "expand" the dl_ etc files after copying them

over from the cd to my c:\windows\system32\..... directory.
