Hi folks,

I have a friends computer running win XP, it has blue screen of death and ive pinpointed it to a corrupted hard drive, since she has no valueble data on it im looking to do a system restore.

The problem is the system im using is a win 7 home edition, and im struggling to find a cd that i can build on win 7.

Tryed to build a cd using barts pe builder, but isnt compatible with win 7, if someone could point me in the right direction i would appericate it.

As there is no valuable data, you are better off doing a reinstall... but make sure that you have all the drives available.

Did the PC not come with any disks at all?

Can you give us the make and model?

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

260GTX

Hi, is the hard drive itself dead? or just the operating system?

I am also trying to understand what you mean by putting windows 7 onto a disk. If it is the operating system from your computer you cannot install it on your friends computer. It isn't legal.

When the computer that is faulty was new there should have been the option to create restore disks from the partition on the original hard drive and operating system, if that wasn't done, you may have to buy a new operating system install disk if the hard drive is either broken or badly corrupted.

Nev.
