When shutting down one of my computers a svchost dialog box opens taking

excessive time to shut itself down, slowing full shut down.

How can I determine which program is calling it and get the system to

shut down quicker?

Windows XP home ed, SP2

Re: Svchost?

SvcHost is a container service that runs multiple smaller processes

within it. Open a Command Prompt window and type

> Tasklist /SVC

Will display all the individual services mapped to each SvcHost

instance.

You can add User Profile Hive Cleanup to aid in closing your

User hive and help XP shutdown/restart properly.
