Hi, my computer wouldnt start up, so i opened it to have a look, the took out

a part of the board that burnt:

http://img212.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=03295_DSC01844_122_63lo.JPG

http://img171.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=03297_DSC01846_122_1048lo.JPG

There also seems to be some yellowing on some of the chips, ive circled

these in red.

So, does this mean my motherboards bust premanently ot can i fix it

Ive got a Packard Bell iMedia 1804

Thanks in advance

Would this not be a hardware question? Totally unrelated to Windows?

I probably overheated due to all the dust accumulation by the looks of it... :)

Re: Is my motherboard dead ?

yeh, that is a nasty

burn.

looks like your mobo

shorted.

time to replace it.

fortunately, your

harddisk is intact

which is the most

important thing here.

keep in mind that

in the event you replace

the mobo, you may have

to reinstall windows to

configure the operating

system on the disk to you

new hardware.

however, if you buy a

computer with brand

new up to date components

and with windows preinstalled,

then you can hook up your old

harddisk as a slave to it.

Is it burned or discolored?
