Lately I have been getting certificate errors on pages I know to be valid. I

use SP2. Is there any way to turn this off? For instance, I goto http://www.FTC.gov

and click on DNC registry and then Register now and get a certificate error

page.

RE: certificate errors

As the error implies:

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a

different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or

intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this

website.

If you really trusted the site you can click... Continue to this website

(not recommended).

Be sure that you arrived at the page by clicking a link, check the website

address in the address bar to be sure that it is the address you were

expecting.

I visited the site and it looks OK with me

This error message appears because the security certificate was issued by

the FTC itself and not by an authority acknowledged by Microsoft.

To solve this problem, you just have to install the "CA Certificate" of FTC

in your browser.

Click on "Certificate Error" next to the IE7 address bar (that turned pink)

and then "View certificates" (red shield icon with white x)

Click on "Install certificate..."

Click "Next"

You will be asked where the certificate has to be stored. You can use the

default setting and click "Next".

Click "Finish"

Confirm by clicking "Yes"

Certificatem Import Wizard click OK

On your next visit, you will not see the error message again.
