WHY is it people go on about using gpedit without first asking IF the person

with the windows XP problem is even using XP Pro?

Not everyone uses XP Pro.

That being so, WHY assume that gpedit is part of ALL windows versions?

A question in return: Why is it that some posters start a

thread with a Subject line that tells potential respondents

precisely nothing about the nature of the question?

Many, but not all people, assume that the way things are in their

"world" is the way things are for others. Eventually most people learn

by experience that this is not the way things are. In your particular

example there will be some who are unaware of common alternatives and as

a direct consequence offer solutions which are inappropriate. That's

life.

Hope this helps.

Re: A question

Pegasus is absolutely right. We are all volunteers here and often decide to

read a thread based on the subject line. I usually bypass subject lines

like "Can anybody help me" or "I have a question" because I generally don't

have time to read everything and only want to read threads on subjects I am

familiar with. If the OP can't take the time to develop his thought I can't

take the time to explore the thread. I picked up on this one by impulse.

The date and time was 5/14/2008 3:01 AM, and on a whim, Redneck pounded

out on the keyboard:

It's not up to those offering help to guess. If someone doesn't state

exactly what version they're using, that's not our problem. IF someone

suggests using gpedit.msc and the poster replies back that it worked, it

saved one set of responses. If they post back that nothing happened,

then they can be educated on how to properly post in a newsgroup.

Using two yardsticks? One for notes posted by other people, another for your

own?

I could add something more here, but my own modesty prevents me. :-)
