Guest DenisP Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 When trying to start my computer I am getting the following message. It will not boot up in safe or any other mode. Bad_System _Config_Info STOP 0x00000074 (0x00000003, 0x00000002, 0x80083000,0xC000014C)) And that the RAM may be damaged. My Dell Intel based XP Media Edition Service Pack 2 computer has been downloading some automatic update for a few days on and off (I have dial up) I noticed it was getting near 100% last time I looked. Maybe this update was SP3 and has caused some problem. I have changed to Ram but this error is still coming up. Has anyone came up against this before. Thanks
Guest Rey Santos Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 RE: Bad_System _Config_Info Bug Check 0x74: BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms795800.aspx This bug check indicates that there is an error in the registry. Resolving the Problem Try restarting the computer by selecting "last known good configuration" in the boot options. If the restart does not fix the problem, the registry damage is too extensive. You must reinstall the OS or use the Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) that you previously created by using the Windows Backup tool. -- Rey "DenisP" wrote: > When trying to start my computer I am getting the following message.
