Hi,

I am trying to install Windows XP on my custom desktop, but always got a

Fatal Error as below.

"SXS.DLL:Syntax error in manifest or policy file

"D:\I386\asms\10\msft\windows\gdiplus\gdiplus.man" on line 4.

Error:

Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error Message : A Component's file does

not match the verification information presentin the component manifest.

Fatal Error:

One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be

installed."

I have tried many times, and always got the same error. Anyone can help me

on it? Thanks in advance.

Hii

Try this

-Boot from CD

- F10 to cancel current upgrade

- Press Enter to setup windows

- Press F8 for license agreement

- Press R for repair

- It will say that it is already in the middle of upgrading to XP, do

you want to

retry the upgrade or do a clean isntall? -

- Retry the upgrade

-Else try changing ur Media

Well probably that file is corrupt. You can download it from here :

http://dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?gdiplus

and replace it with the one displayed in the error.

I can not replace it. Since I am installing the new version of Windows XP.

BTW, even I change another Windows XP installation CD. The same issue

occurred again.

if you can do the following bit :

1. Clean the installation disk with liquid soap and gently clean it

(i'm not sure if this will really help but there is no harm in trying

this).

2. Ensure that you dis-assemble the computer once, clean all the

components, devices properly and then try it.

3. Using any other computer - Create a copy of your original windows xp

cd and while doing it, replace the file with the one you downloaded

from the internet. (try this only if the above two fail).

Check your RAM if they are properly seated. Perhaps test them on another

computer.

Hi,

I have tried to repair it with your steps, but got different selections.

-Boot from CD

- F10 to cancel current upgrade

- Press Enter to setup windows

- Press F8 for license agreement

- Press R for repair

- Asking the administration password to log in (It was dead on it. Since I

did not even set up any passwords yet.)

Thanks

RE: Fatal error for Windows XP Installation -- Syntax error in man

Hi,

It might be the root cause. I have bought a new memory card, but still

got the same error. Not sure that I shall replace my mother-board or not. If

I took off my Hard Disk and installed Windows XP on another desktop, will it

work when I put it back?

Re: Fatal error for Windows XP Installation -- Syntax error in manifes

Hii

I would not suggest replacing the mother board right now...since the

errors donot point to it..they still seem to be related to some kind of

Read error..

Changing the CD-ROM seems a good option..or even what u plan seems

ok..taking the HDD to a diff machine but that way we won't know the

actual cause whether its the CD-ROM or MB....
