Guest Tanja Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Hi, need to build up a backup policy for a Windows 2003 Server which acts as Pdc, Active Directory and file server for a 5 users small office. Which program should I use ? The NtBackup in Windows 2003 server is the better choice or there is something better from 3rd Part Software House ? Thanks a lot, Tanja

If you are good with batch files, it's quite effective - I use it myself in many locations You could also check out BackupAssist - it's a nice wrapper & GUI for NTBackup jobs and is very affordable. Next step up might be something like Symantec's BackupExec. Much depends on your needs, skills, and budget.

There are programs with more or "better" features but they almost all cost more money (NTBackup is free and already installed.) Recommendation: USE the NTBackup for now, at least until you find something it will not do for you or until you find and buy something better *for YOU*. In the meantime you will have a BACKUP.
