My computer keeps telling me to restart.

I did an update a whie back and as always my computer told me to restart. I

did and waited for it to reboot. After it did it told me again that I needed

to restart. I thought that was strange but I did a restart again. It kept

telling me the same thing after every restart. I've been ignoring it for

some time, since it really didn't do much but bother me at every startup.

But now I'm curious as to what's causing it. Any ideas?

Update of what ? - OS/Application or Driver. On the restart screen are

any details or reasons why a restart is needed shown ? Obviously there

is something unresolved on the PC. Without more details it's impossible

to give you advice on what to do.

Re: My computer keeps telling me to restart.

Well, it was an automatic update for windows... So I'm thinking it was the OS.

The message I get is:

"The computer must be restarted before updating can continue. Would you

like to restart now?", you know, the normal message you get after a windows

update.

Re: My computer keeps telling me to restart.

That specific error message has been associated with Adobe Reader:

http://icttechalerts.blogspot.com/2007/07/startup-message-computer-must-be.html

Follow the steps laid out here to resolve that error:
