Guest SchedTask Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Have a few Internet facing servers with half a dozen or more scheduled tasks each which to date have been run under the context of the Local System account. Was reading the following article; http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/f60ea8d6-d2af-4dd0-b050-c09951826f5d1033.mspx?mfr=true This article says that you need to be very cautious about running tasks using the Local System account due to the "Act as part of the operating system" permission. I read the linked article that was meant to explain this further, but I'm still left wondering how someone might be able to use this. Can anyone explain in layman terms what the risks of running Scheduled Tasks using the Local System account are?
