XP shutdown Explorer.exe problem

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 that belongs to a friend. It's running XP Pro

and has 3gb ram. Nearly every time you shutdown, reboot or log off, this

error pops up:

"Explorer.EXE-Application Error

The instruction at 0x01359430 referenced memory at 0x01359430. The memory

could not be written." (The memory address changes from one time to the next)

I have searched till I can't see straight and can't find the solution to

this. I've run chkdisk, defragged and also sfc but to no avail. I have

removed all unnecessary items from startup and services in msconfig, but the

problem still exists.

Any guidance on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: XP shutdown Explorer.exe problem

Thank you, but unfortunately that didn't cure the problem. The system has

two users and initially both were affected by this. However, one of them

doesn't seem to have it happen anymore, while the other does. Both users are

administrators.

I created a new user and it had the problem as well.

Thanks,

KP

Never trust a fix posted to a site that has hosted pornographic

materials and that is on the MVP block list HOST file. Never trust

anyone that can't prove they are an MVP when pretending to be one.

It's not HIS anyway (HE didn't write it). I'm surprised the author

doesn't sue him.

Editing code you got from someone else does not make you an "Author".
