I use Automatic Update. I was notified about SP3 and installed it without

any problems. My daughter's machine is the same configuration as mine

(except she has not installed IE7 yet) but she hasn't received any notice

about SP3. For what it's worth, the Microsoft Update website "knows" that

she uses Automatic Update. Executing the check for latest updates just

loops. Any comments?

Re: WinXP Home SP3

If Automatic Updates on her machine is configured to the "automatic"

setting, she should expect SP3 to be offered sometime next month. (I assume

yours is set to Notify Only or Download but Notify.)

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft

Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP

installation

(Ignore the title - it may fix your problem reguardless of how you got to

the situation you are now in...)
