System instability after loading WinXP SP3

My system has become unstable after loading SP3. Applications will work for a

while, then lock up. Ofter shutdown will not complete and I have to force

power off to reboot.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thx, John

Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
