DavidSmith Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Hi, I needed to format my hard drive (I have a Dell Inspiron). I followed the procedure but now my computer is hanging at "Setup is preparing your computer for first use". It was initially on this screen for 1hr 30mins and when I try and re-boot, it comes up again and never exits the screen. Any ideas what I can try? Thanks Quote
Jelly Bean Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Hello David. Try firstly to load defaults in BIOS then set first boot to CD/DVD rom pop in the disk and save and exit.... Could I ask why you felt you had to reinstall? I ask this as this may help us determin what issues you are having. I can sugest booting into recovery console using the disk and run chkdsk /r this will check your hard drive for errors and rule in or out the hard drive being a cause. Please start your own thread Robison where you will get a better chance of finding a solution. Thankyou BeeCeeBee, Robisons post has been moved to its own thread. PseFrank.
