Slave disk on the same IDE controller or on a different controller? Won't

that crash the PC? Are you sure the PC won't try to load the mucked up OS

on the slave disk? This happened to me once when I installed an old

diskdrive with a dual boot system as a second diskdrive. Not sure whether I

connected it as a slave though. The PC got inoperable and I had to reinstall

Windows.

Re: my system (WinXP) reboots and reboots by itself

if the pc was in the process

of reading and writing to

the registry or the disk

when the loss of power

occurred then you might

try to reboot with a windows

cd and log into the recovery

console.

then run the following commands

at the disk prompt>:

chkdsk

fixboot

fixmbr

then exit and reboot

without the cd.

the above should work

barring hardware failure.

there is a possibility

that the subsequent

electrical spike/surge

may have caused a

problem.
