Guest mike305 Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 does anybody know how to regain any disk space after installing sp3. i lost nearly 2 gigs after installation.
Guest Colin Barnhorst Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Re: sp3 Not knowing the details, I suggest that you empty the recycle bin and defrag the drive to consolidate the free space. There may be some other reason but at least take these prelimary steps. Was the setup folder deleted upon reboot? It's got a *very* long name with a lot of random characters. It should have been deleted, but if not...it's ok to delete. Also check system restore, by default that's usually set way higher than is needed
Guest M8RIX Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Re: sp3 Disk Cleanup will take care of your problem. Make sure you select System Restore under the "More Options" tab. This will clean all but the most recent restore point. -- Mark N. Guest Shawn E. Hale Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Re: sp3 I noticed the same thing and ran the defrag but didn't notice any appreciable difference. I cannot find the temporary setup folder to delete as someone suggested. Guest Kenneth Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Re: sp3 Once I was happy that absolutely everything was working OK after the SP3 download & install, I simply ran Disc Cleanup ( including all bar the most recent Restore Point ) and recovered almost 3gb of space. There's no point poking around looking for stuff to delete, you could make a real mess of things. "Shawn E.
