Use System Restore to roll back before you installed SP3 (or control

panels --> Add or Remove Programs).

See if that actually fixes the issue. This is not something *I* have heard

SP3 affected. You may have some issue that was exasperated by SP3.

In addition to Shenan's comment I suggest that you uninstall SP3 then

uninstall IE7. After installing SP3 again reinstall IE7.

Did you install SP3 manually or was it offered by Windows Update?

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for

Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and

e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada.

RE: Windows Explorer Crashes after SP3 install- Found Problem

Finally got an MS response link with an error message that pointed to

mpegsplitter.ax. Renamed the file and problem went away. Don't know why it

started after a couple of years.
