My system took a big dump on me Friday wouldn't even boot . After a very long

nite and lot of really bad language it took the CD and started setup , did a

repair install and I thought all was good . As soon as windows was running

hear comes the Activation nag screen constantly , well the 3 days it said I

had turned out to be about an hour . During boot-up just before windows login

up pops the Activation nag and now I'm locked out of my computer again it

won't let windows come up . Also setup won't take my admin password now so I

can't re-install windows again either . Is there any way around this to get

into windows ? I did the phone call to activate and India is telling me my

key is no good WTF? It's been good for 3 yrs . Anybody ?

It's the OEM key that came in the package with the cd and guide book , got

this from a major retailer sealed 3 yrs ago . The clean install went quick

and easy with no problems . The hardware in my system hasn't changed in any

major way and I,ve did 1 repair install about 2 yrs ago with no prblems with

the activation nags . I have noticed bugs and blue screens are increasing

every time I have to run Micro-nazi's " validation scripts " when I'm on

their web site . Some of my software has either quit working or crashs after

that last big update with SP3 . I know alot of the problems lay with the anti

piracy software being back doored into our systems during updates .

How did you install SP3? What media did you use or did you use WU? There

is a known problem, especially with product keys, under some specific

conditions.

Re: Activation nag screen locking me out at Log-in screen on XP Pr

I had downloaded SP3 along with other updates a couple of months ago and had

un-installed SP3 a couple of weeks before the crash as a possible fix for the

freezing up my system had started doing . I,ve since managed to get windows

booted and found a whole new set of headaches that are nothing but blatant

attempt by microsoft to push Vista on users . I build my own systems and load

the OS to one machine only but hardware does get changed because of up-grades

. I've had zero problems with windows or had to re-activate it after any of

them till now .I don,t do pirated software of any kind and don't copy any

either and really don't like the way nag screens for the WGA are all over

everything now . Here's the real kicker , I can't open IE to this forum after

the first post on the machine I used to make it on ? I had use a backup

system and non microsoft browser to get here ...........
