Dear All, Please help.

I have a windows 2003 server domain and would like the ability to remote

into clients PC'S with them still logged in and work / help while they

watch.

Can windows remote do this (I think not) or is there a better method to do

it.

Regards

Adam

You can do it with products such as WinVNC or with "Remote Assistance"

(which I have not tried). You cannot do it with Remote Desktop. Whether

the machines are in a Domain or Workgroup environment is irrelevant.

Re: Remote Desktop on a Domain

If the user PCs are XP SP2 or higher:

In the run box type this:

=====================

%windir%\explorer.exe

"hcp://CN=Microsoft%20Corporation,L=Redmond,S=Washington,C=US/Remote%20Assistance/Escalation/Unsolicited/Unsolicitedrcui.htm"

====================

All on one line of course.

Then just put in the hostname or ip address. I think you need to have Remote

Assistance allowed on the users PC. Switch this on with a GPO config.

Re: Remote Desktop on a Domain

I use Remote Desktop to get to the server, and from there I use RealVNC to

remote to each workstation. You can save the file so that you don't have to

re-enter the host machine information, and you have an interactive

environment with the workstation user. You can have many of these windows

open at once, and since you are already inside the network you don't need to

pay for the version with security. However, if you want to access any Vista

machines you will need to at least purchase the personal version of their

software, as the free version does not work properly on Vista - last I

checked.
