Guest fred Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Hi, I am looking to implemement digital forms in our network using one or more of Sharepoint Services, Forms Server, MOSS, and Infopath. I would like to use digital signatures on forms, and was wondering the best way to acheive this. I currently have no Certificate Authority (CA) and have Windows Server 2003 AD (I am repsonsible for 1 domain in a larger forest). I would like to use an Enterprise CA for ease of use / administration, however I am concerned that should company name or ownership change, and the domain need to be migrated or absorbed to another organisation then my digitally signed forms would be useless. Would using a stand alone CA avoid this? I am after pros and cons for each CA type in this particular scenario (digital form signing), any advice / experiences gratefully received. Thanks, Fred.

Enabling Digital Signatures in InfoPath 2007 Form Templates http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb251748.aspx Stand-alone certification authorities http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/799053d3-2be3-4728-be ff-71c82f69dc381033.mspx From my understanding, you want to implement digital forms in InfoPath. However the domain will be renamed or re-construct in the new future, you want to get a practice of implement CA that will get less influence on the domain change. The certificate is majorly for signing that not a large number of templates will be needed. And the CRL will always published locally. A workgroup-based standalone CA should be a good choose. Hope it helps.
