Printer redirection problem

Hi,

I installed OKI C3400 printer on my Windows XP. The printer is connected to

the PC with USB cable. When I connect to another Windows XP by using RDP, I

can see the printer driver redirected in the session. But when I submit a

print job, the redirected printer driver says that the printer is not

connected. Actually, the document is correctly printed. Why can't the driver

detect the printer via the redirected print port? Is this a bug of terminal

server or the driver?

Hi - you aren't using Terminal Server, if I understand your post correctly -

this would be a better question to post in

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. That being said, it's possible that the

printer driver isn't fully compatible / cannot be redirected. You might

check with OKI to see if they support this.

Thanks for your information.

I am confused by "Remote Desktop" and "Terminal Server". I always thought

the Remote Desktop on Window XP professional is just a one-user version of

Terminal Server. Is that wrong?

Both use the same protocol, and to all intents and purposes, you

can regard RD on XP exactly as you describe it, Justin.

Thank you Vera!

I am suffering from bi-directional communication problems on printer drivers

when they are working with redirected printer ports. It seems that the print

data can be redirected from the server to the local printer but the local

printer's status data can NOT be redirected back to the printer driver. I

found the same problem on OKI C3400 and one of Kodak's printers. Both of them

require bi-directional communication to be enabled. Do you have any ideas?
