how to Restrict multiple sessions for a single user

Hi;

Since i have installed SP3 for win XP while using RDP for servers with

single user each time multiple sessions are opened for a single user, not

only from one PC if the RDP (RDP console in administration tool pack sp2) is

used at another workstation and the same server is accessed with the same

user, another session is provided by the server which was not the case in

SP2. If any user from any workstation used to get connected to server the

session of another user on another workstation with same server user used to

get disconnected.

Please help me to solve this issue.

Note;

I have used the terminal configuration policy (GPO) and set the restriction

to one user but still other workstation can get new session while using the

same server user.

Thanks

Try RSOP to check if your policy is applied for that user.

RSOP = Resultant Set of Policy, you can start it via a MMC.

mmmm, strange.

Maybe you can try the GPO setting: "Allow reconnection from original client

only"

Hi Essa,

Yes, it is strange it occurs after installing SP3.

Maybe you can also post this error on a Windows XP forum.

Good luck to find the solution. Hopefully somebody of Microsoft read this

and take the necessarily steps...

Cheers,

Yuri

Hi Essa,

I only communicate to Microsoft though these forums.

I know that these are heavily monitored (at least some....) ;-)

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/default.aspx

Although, I don't see a WindowsXP forum here... Anyway, the goal is to let

Microsoft know there might be a bug in SP3.

If you have the solution / an answer from Microsoft. Please post is also here.

Cheers,

Yuri

RE: how to Restrict multiple sessions for a single user

HI;

Please follow the following steps to correct the problem.

1) Update all the workstations to XP SP3.

2) Via GPO configure the "Restrict Terminal Services users to a single

remote session" available in the Computer Configuration\Administrative

Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services....

Now no more multiple session are created
