Win XP pro activation period expired

I have missed the 30 day registration period to register Win XP. I now get

an error message when I power up my computer stating "This copy of Windows

must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want

to activate Windows now?"

Selecting either Yes or No has no effect other that bringing me back to the

Welcome screen and the user (Me) "Logging Off"

This is a legal, purchased Windows XP Pro.

What's happening? How do I register. I have tried registering in Safe Mode

but it will not allow me to do so.

Try booting to Safe-Mode and activate from there.

Have you tried buying another copy?

Why should the OP buy another copy when the copy he has is probably

perfectly legitimate. The activation procedure does little else than

inconvenience legitimate users.
