Hi, apologies if i am asking in the wrong area but couldnt find a specific

area dedicated to RIS (Remote Installation Service)

I have uploaded the XP sp2 cd filed to our ris server which allows me to

name and create a RIS image on our server.

I now have a new machine and when it boots I select F12 to choose a boot

option I then select 'Onboard Network Controller' after a few seconds it asks

you to press F12 for 'Network Service Boot' it is at this point the screens

goes blank and the only way to reslove it is to reboot, I cannot get to the

screen to select the image i had previously built.

Got a really busy period comming up in terms of machine builds and could do

with this being resolved if anyone has any idea's it would be much

appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Re: RIS - F12 Error

Has this RIS server ever worked in the past? are you sure BOOTP is forwarded

through your switches? can you try a different test machine. Do you get the

blue menu page? uninstall RIS and add it again, or check maually for the

presence of the menu file on the ris server

http://www.emboot.com/products_RISME.htm

try the menu editor above to confirm the RIS side is ok

Re: RIS - F12 Error

Hi Jon

Thanks for your quick reply, the RIS service has worked in the past so it

shouldn't be an issue with BOOTP, i have tried other machines and the same

happens, i dont get as far as any blue menu page, i tried to download and

install the menu editor as in your link but its based on a windows 2000

platform and were using 2003 SP1.

so its still not working.
